More lace knitting December 26, 2008 This is a good addition to the knit library. It is clear and has inspiring project possibilities. It give a little history and relates the difference in knitting lace between modern and traditional as well as among regions and age groups of knitters. I expect to make a couple of the items.

Well done! December 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a gorgeous book. It is so well done with beautiful pictures, and really excellent close-ups, so you can actually see the project in detail. I own many knitting pattern and technique books, and some of the more highly-rated of those are lacking in photography and organization, are printed on cheap paper, and have many errors (grammatical and technical) in them; this one only has minor errors in 4 charts, and they have been corrected in subsequent printings. I love the stories and the old photos, and the mini-stitch dictionary.
One book is never going to satisfy everyone. If you like looking at breathtakingly beautiful knitted items beautifully photographed, and want to knit any of them without having to have pages of corrections nearby, then this quality book will provide that.
How About a Sequel for the More Advanced Knitter? December 4, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I agree with other reviewers in that this is a really well done book with lovely patterns, and I am glad to have it in my extensive lace knitting library. That said, I was still a little disappointed. I have taken Nancy's Estonian Lace Knitting class (wonderful), and have knitted two of her designs (Madli's Shawl and Ene's Scarf). I have also purchased the book of Estonian lace (Pitsilised Koerkirjad) (in Estonian, but it has good graphs). My dream is to understand how to design a larger, lacier version of Ene's Scarf--with the motifs double-decreasing and disappearing in the middle as that one does. I was SO hoping that there would be guidance on this kind of design in this book! Anyway, that should not discourage anyone from buying and enjoying this fine effort from the estimable Ms. Bush.
