Product Description The unique story of the Clash, by the Clash. The Clash were a band like no other. Pioneers of British punk rock, their incendiary gigs, intelligent songwriting, definitive style and passionate idealism caught the spirit of the times and made them a worldwide phenomenon. Rolling Stone magazine declared London Calling one of the greatest albums of all time, their autobiographical documentary Westway to the World won a Grammy, and their music lives on, influencing emerging bands and exciting new audiences today.
This is the first official book to be created by the band. With unprecedented access to the Clash archive, this landmark publication brings together previously unseen material--including tour posters, artwork, and photos of the band at home, on stage, in the studio and on the road--with each member telling it like it was, in their own words.
Trendsetters, icons, revolutionaries: their story is steeped in mythology. Many people have an opinion about what made them who they were - this book gives the chance to read the full story, from all four band members themselves.

The best Clash book December 17, 2008 For any fan of The Clash this is a must. When it shows up it is very impressive. They left no stone unturned and has plenty from Joe Strummer even though he is no longer with us. You will be reading this book over and over.
Best Book Ever!!!!! December 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have every Clash book, DVD, CD, Album, and I still couldn't wait to receive this book. They were the best band ever in my opinion and knowing that they will never be together again, makes this book all the more precious. This book is their words, so it's a more personal look at the band. The photos are great and I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to know the story of the Clash.
WOW December 5, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the book. Reading the book. Reliving the whole Clash Time. WOW I mean, carry this book under your arm. If you were not there-now you can be----with this book. I was there and this book made me want to run around Hollywood. Go to London. Spend time in New York. I was reminded how much the music and lyrics of The Clash described the times and places that we lived. Those were the days. This was the group. This was the music. These are the memories and all in one book. This was the group filled with matter. This mattered the group. This book describes the only group that mattered. Who matters anyway?

"Huge book of photos and memorabilia" November 21, 2008 0 out of 8 found this review helpful
Published by: Grand Central Publishing Reviewed by: Stephanie Rollins for ReviewYourBook.com 11/2008 ISBN: 978-0446-53973-9 "Huge book of photos and memorabilia" 4 stars "Who is The Clash?" That was my first thought when picking up this book. They are a bit before my time, yet this book is still interesting. There are plenty of posed photos. Better yet, there are many candid photos. Some show them in concert. Some show them behind the scenes. Most of all, it has each of their takes on certain points in their fame. If you are a Clash junky, put this on your Christmas list.
Mindblowing! October 19, 2008 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
This book is amazing. Great photographs, and having the band telling their story is fantastic. Despite being assembled years after Joe Strummer's death, he is a dominant voice in the book. I would compare the style of the book to The Beatles Anthology book, although unlike The Beatles book, The Clash tell their story album by album and tour by tour as opposed to year by year.
You'll love the pictures and the stories. You'll start out flipping through it, and then get sucked in and start reading. This book is sure to become a classic.
By the way, the book is HUGE and HEAVY, and beautifully assembled. If you are a Clash fan, you definitely want this.
