Just for guys…
the inside scoop on girls
from the girls themselves.

Okay, the authors aren't girls. But to bring you the facts they surveyed more than 1,000 of them. Every teen guy wants to know how girls are wired, what they want, and how they really think…

Or at least how to talk to a girl without feeling like an idiot.

Here's your chance to find out.

5 out of 5 stars Moms and Dads, this is a must have.....   November 2, 2008
do you have an up and coming teenage boy in your life, who has no idea what women his age want and even his father is at a blank and you are in desperate need of guidance?! There is help and the answer lies in this book.

When I began to read FYMO, I could only nod my head at the wonderful insight these writers had. From everything to what a girl sees in a guy to the dreaded whether a girl wants to 'do it' is in this book and handled beautifully. Now, for even you older men, it can be an eye opener as well. My husband read it, mostly because I asked him, and even he couldn't believe some of the things her read. Even casting an eye to me and saying 'Is that Really how you all think?" and then"Wish this was out when I was younger."

I have a young boy who is all of two, but believe me, this will be waiting for him when he gets older. It will be a mandatory read before he begins dating and a reference when there are things he needs help understanding. If you are a young man and are in the dating scene or a mom with a son heading there, you NEED to read this book. And for all you others out there, the series has For Women Only, For Young women Only, and For Men Only. I am buying all of them to add to my shelf

This book is an excellent source for mentoring young men as they work their way through the relationship hurdle. Fun to read and easy to understand. Wish I had it when I began the journey!

5 out of 5 stars Must read for guys and must have for youth workers   October 10, 2008

I just finished reading For Young Men Only (FYMO from now on) by Jeff Feldhahn and Eric Rice yesterday. The forth book in a the series that started with For Women Only, then For Men Only, For Parents Only, For Young Girls Only and finishing up now with FYMO.

Where was this book when I was younger? I mean come on this book would have been so helpful as a 15, 16, 17 year old guy. As I read the book and looked back on my years of chasing girls and remembering situations when I could have used information like: be myself, actually listen and hear, stand up for her, have a sense of humor, be thoughtful, be self-confident, and fun and adventurous. I have to admit I was not quite the ladies man, which is probably a good thing, and God blessed that as I married way above myself.

I was really impressed with the writers ability to use the data collected through a national survey, focus group and frequent trips to the mall to talk with more teenage girls and then communicate it in a way that a high school guy is going to want to read and will understand. Their use of real quotes from real girls, stories that they were told while talking with said teenage girls and real life experiences make this book very easy to relate to and pull practical advise that you can use tomorrow on the girl you've always wanted to talk to but never had the courage to do it.

I can see lots of ways to use this (and the For Young Girls Only) book in the youth ministry setting. From teaching series material, separate sex large group talks, 3 to 4 member small groups, one-on-one mentoring, and having a few of each book on hand to pass out to those struggling with these issues.

Overall I think this is one of the best books I read for guys with tons of great practical advice and stories to learn from. I highly recommend For Young Men Only to youth workers as a great quality tool we are always on the look out for.

4 out of 5 stars A window for young men into the dark mystery that is women   October 9, 2008

On the front cover is a quote from Jeff Foxworthy - you know, the "You might be a red neck..." guy. So I was a bit curious what direction this was going to take, and thankfully it went in a good direction. The book was an enjoyable light read, with a lot of good information. It isn't a religious book though it appears to have a solid Christian worldview, and is solid in most of what it says. It is written clearly, but in a language that today's teen guys will totally get. It connects well.

Instead of being a religious book looking at dating, this book sets out to be more informal, and more informational, providing a good look at what young women are looking for in young men. I couldn't' help but think that this book would have been useful to me when I was in its target market teenage range. It is wise without being condescending, educational without being preachy. It serves as a light for young men into the dark mystery that is women. While women will continue to confound young men after reading this book, it is a good first step to better understanding.

The areas the book covers are:
1. Why do girls pick the fancy boys over the average ones?
2. Why are good girls attracted to bad guys?
3. Why do girls seem so crazy sometimes?
4. Why do girls like you one day, and then want to break up the next?
5. What can guys do to better listen to girls?
6. What go girls really think about sex?

I found sections three and four to be the most interesting to me, but all were well thought out, well researched, well documented and clearly presented.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent book...   October 7, 2008
So, I spent a good part of the afternoon reading For Young Men Only by Jeff Feldhahan and Eric Rice (with Shaunti Feldhahn). I laughed as I realized how accurately it portrayed the "inner workings" of the teen girl's mind. With answers to questions from a survey of 600 teen girls, I found the surprising statistics both accurate and surprising at times. And I am absolutely terrified knowing that my oldest, Elijah, is at an age where he's going to start having questions about girls. I'm so glad to have this book to share with him! And even more glad that it's his dad's domain to answer most of those questions!

But if you're looking for a great book to open the discussion with the teenage or even older tween boy in your life, I'd highly recommend For Young Men Only. It will *not* disappoint! (You can view even more information and the complete survey results on the website - www.foryoungmenonly.com.
