Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Parents seek to raise moral and godly children, but many don't know how. Parents and prospective parents often feel ill-equipped for the task of raising righteous children. On Becoming Childwise responds to this need by offering sound, biblical instruction for parents with questions about discipline, parent roles, and other issues. Gary Ezzo, author, pastor, and father, and Robert Bucknam, pediatrition, draw from their professional and personal in-the-trenches experiences to offer practical instruction on raising morally responsible children.

4 out of 5 stars Preschool Wise Repeat   October 27, 2008
I have always loved the "On Becoming..." series. This book will not disappoint the reader looking for help raising four to seven year-olds, but for the one who already owns Preschoolwise, there is no need to also buy this book. Much of the information is repeated. I did say "need". I would have wanted it anyway since I'm such a fan!

1 out of 5 stars Research at ezzo.info before using any Gary Ezzo book   August 1, 2008
Childwise is the secular version of Gary Ezzo's series Growing Kids God's Way taught in Christian churches- he just either removed the Scriptural passages or calls them Jewish proverbs. I know many parents at my church who have taken these classes and wish they never had heard of these books. One couple I know who actually know the Ezzo's say it almost ruined their marriage. Many others say they now know better and wish they had not followed many things in his book and feel guilty about what they put their children through. Save yourself future guilt and research carefully before using any of Gary Ezzo's books.[...] The 'good' in his books are common sense ideas found in much better books.

5 out of 5 stars This book has done...   July 28, 2008
Wonders for our family! I understand that this book created a lot of controversy in parenthood but I would HIGHLY suggest to anyone to just read yourself! Take the suggestion of many and take what you may from the book. My wife and I (yes, as a husband and new father I felt the responsibility of educating myself) decided to read this book after the tons of reviews we recieved from our close friends. BW is not a concrete program that you subject your child to but it's PARENT DIRECTED FEEDING. As a parent, you decide what is best for your baby. If it's adjsuting his/her schedule from a 3 hour to a 2.5 OR even a 2 hour routine, YOU DO SO! I highly doubt a child can become dehydrated or underweight if they are eating this much. Ours certaintly didn't (92 % at 2 months).

Gary Ezzo is not qualified to give feeding and babycare advice. He has been discredited over and over, and dropped by his publishser. He continues to publish these on his own. Look up Gary Ezzo on the internet for the critiques of this material. Don't do this to your baby!

I'm a mother with degrees in child develpment and child psychology, and this book is more valuable to parents than anything I've learned in all my years of higher education. Read it! You and your children will be glad you did!!
