TRANSFORM YOUR MARRIAGE GOD'S WAY September 17, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this book! It's one of the best books on marriage I've ever read -- and I've collected a whole bookshelf in my 12 years of marriage.
I'm definitely not the expert, but Florence Littauer is. She's spent her life teaching passionately about the four personality types: Popular Sanguine, Powerful Choleric, Perfect Melancholy, and Peaceful Phlegmatic.
Do you know your personality type? Or your husband's? Learning about the personalities will transform your marriage, and the book contains a profile that will help you identify your type, as well as the strengths and weaknesses, which all apply to communication in marriage.
In a candid and humorous way, Littauer tells the story of her wedding, which was so glamorous that Life Magazine captured it on film. But after the honeymoon, her marriage was filled with problems--until the couple became committed to Christ, realizing that happiness in marriage starts with me, not you.
This book would make a wonderful women's Bible study, and tapes of Littauer's teaching can be purchased to complement the reading.

obnoxiously conservative August 24, 2000 25 out of 57 found this review helpful
This book is so christian and sexist, it's hard for me to believe it's for real. One chapter, "The Other Woman," is devoted to how a wife should stay attractive and pleasant to keep her husband faithful. Another chapter, "How To Be A Pleasing Wife," explains that wives should "love the lord, have a submissive attitude, aim for a quiet and gentle spirit, and improve their looks."
Marriage 101 January 14, 2000 28 out of 30 found this review helpful
I was a little unsure of entering into such a committment with my intended because we had such a hard time talking to each other about difficult topics. Everytime we'd broach an issue too painful or too overwhelming, he would clam up or I'd storm off upset. The advice in this book helped us understand some of our differences, and made us realize what could make our marriage stronger. I definitely recommend this book for every couple, whether they're not yet married or have been married over fifty years.
This book is a must for all couples... May 30, 1999 21 out of 23 found this review helpful
This book, by far, is one of the most informative books I have ever read. It is a must for all couples, whether they have been married for years or are just planning to get married. It helped me understand the different personalities. From a christian stand-point, I finally see the light. Until I had read the book, I always thought my husband was the problem. Until I checked my own maturity level, did I realize that I had to stop placing the blame on others and be accountable for my own actions. Florence & Fred Littauer did an excellent job on this book. I give this book a golden 5 stars. God bless them both...
A must for all---married, engaged or single ! April 8, 1999 I read this book after I met Florence and Fred Littauer at the California Women's Reteat (Santa Clara, CA) in March of 1990. This book came with a pack of books I had bought. Even though I was single at the time I still wanted to know what it took to make a good marriage. This book has had a positive impact on my life. "After every Wedding comes a Marriage" is now a regular gift for all engagement/wedding showers. I got married a few years ago and was looking through the book. I started reading it to my husband and he loved it. It should be standard issue for all.
